Children First Canada is Hosting the Second Digital Event for the Young Canadians’ Parliament

Children First Canada is hosting the second digital event for the Young Canadians’ Parliament (YCP). We are asking that adults do not attend to ensure children’s voices are at the centre of the conversation. Young people who are new to digital events will be supported by peer mentors and youth engagement staff throughout the event.

The event will take place on Thursday July 23rd from 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. (ET) (11:30a – 2:30p MT). This event will include peer-led talks about:

  1. The environment, talking about Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and a child’s right to the best possible health care, water to drink, nutritious food, a clean and safe environment and information to help them stay well

  2. Article 27 of the UNCRC and a child’s right to food, clothing, a safe place to live and to have their basic needs met

1:30-1:45pm– Welcome

1:45-2:45pm– Peer-led talks in small groups

2:45-3:45pm– Break, come hang out in the social room
