The evening includes an informative talk and an interactive Q&A with our guest speakers.
Our speakers this time are City of Calgary Parks Department Project Manager, Joan Macdonald and Karen Dommett who is the program manager at Calgary Adapted Hub.
Joan Macdonald works with the city of Calgary as a project coordinator for parks and development. She will focus the exciting developments in inclusive parks in Calgary, including accessible facilities for those parks. There will be some discussion on the process in developing accessible recreation sites and how the public can provide input into their creation and design.
Karen Dommett is the program manager at Calgary Adaptive Hub (CAH). CAH’s goal is to create inclusive opportunities for recreation and sport for children in Calgary. She will talk about how their work is about connecting families to accessible recreation and she will highlight some opportunities that currently exist. Additionally she will address the complications posed by the COVID-19 pandemic for families who are seeking accessible recreation for their children with disabilities.
